"A revision of Encyclopedia of Marriage and the Family, ed. by David Levinson (CH, Apr'96), this second edition of 2,000 pages is a significant expansion and revision of the original (791 pages). It is international in scope, combining all marriage and family lifestyles. Entries from 1995 were updated or deleted, some substantially changed to reflect the strong international focus. Some countries are the subject of little research, so for them data are sketchy; much more is available for Western industrialized or developing countries. Because marriage and family are the subjects of many disciplines, this source will be invaluable for faculty and students and for many academic programs. The alphabetically arranged entries (there are about 340) have cross-references and detailed bibliographies.
