Seulement l'homme en question est enfermé dans une prison mexicaine et personne ne connaît son nom.
C'est pourquoi Blueberry ne pourra compter que sur ses deux amis (Red Neck et Jimmy Mac Lure), le gouvernement ne voulant et ne pouvant s'impliquer officiellement. Cependant la vie réserve bien des surprises et l'une d'elles s'appelle "Chihuahua Pearl". C'est le doux nom d'une femme de caractère qui n'a guère envie de passer le reste de sa vie dans un trou perdu et voit dans la quête de Blueberry un moyen honorable de s'en sortir. Cycle : Nez Cassé Depuis sa dernière aventure Blueberry est considéré par les siens comme un hors-la-loi, son seul refuge est une tribu Navajos dont le chef est Cochise. Tsi-Na-Pah ("Nez Cassé") a réussit à convaincre Cochise qu'il fallait que lui et sa tribu quitte au plus vite l'endroit où ils se trouvent. En effet les blancs sont bien décidés à décimer tous les Peaux-rouges qui n'accepteront pas d'être déportés dans des réserves où ils mourront de faim ou de froid. Tsi-Na-Pah fera tout pour amener ces indiens vers des terres où ils ne dépériront pas, mais la route est longue et parsemée d'embûches. Au cours de cette route Blueberry découvre qu'il existe un moyen de le disculper. C'est ainsi qu'il traverse le Rio Grande et retourne au Mexique à la recherche de l'homme qui pourra l'innocenter. Cycle : Mister Blueberry Blueberry se retrouve à Tombstone où il dilapide l'or de Vigo (cf. "Le bout de la piste") en jouant au Poker avec la famille Earp et Doc Holliday. Mais Blueberry n'est pas un homme qui a eu une vie de tout repos et si cette vie attire les écrivains, elle attire aussi ses ennemis qui voudraient bien y mettre fin. Un de ces derniers se nomme Géronimo et les hommes de Tombstone ont décidé de pourchasser cet indien qui massacre et pille les familles des environs, du moins c'est ce que laisse croire les indices laisser sur place.
