More Toledo-Pereyra (Michigan State University, Kalamazoo left for Medical Studies) seeks to inspire surgeons and other scientists on the process of innovation in this collection of short columns previously published in the Journal of Investigative Surgery. The one- to two-page essays touch on innovation and discovery, art, literature, and cinematography, and philosophy of surgery. Those profiled include Thomas Edison, Diego Rivera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, William and Charles Mayo, and Richard Selzer, an American surgeon-writer. Films and works of literature are also described. Each brief chapter concludes with a thorough list of references
