This book is amazing. It easy to read and easy to understand. Ben talks about everything you need to know about setting up your home studio, with a emphasis on acoustics. If you are an audio engineer or you just want to know about audio in general, this is the book for you. This is a must have.

The first time I picked up this book I read it cover to cover. I own dozens of studio setup books that I bought for under $30, but this one has more detailed descriptions and diagrams than all the rest. Ben uses plain english, not techno-speak in his explanations. There are several studio layout maps, as well as a full description of common mistakes to avoid. This book does more than just scratch the surface, it takes you step by step through the process of setting up and customizing your space. A must-have for anyone that owns their own home studio. I'll be buying another copy to give away as a Christmas gift...

I am a home studio owner and have been working on it for some time now. I have been waiting for a book like this to come along and fortunately I wasn't let down by Home Studio Setup. This book will be useful for both true novices and intermediates. It talks about many aspects of audio but focuses a lot and excells in the acoustic area. Many of the techniques the book proposes I have already implemented in my own studio and I have really heard an improvement in my recordings. A great aspect of this book is that it isn't intimidating. It isn't filled with complex math or terms, instead it is filled with accessible knowledge and a realistic outlook for a home studio. Also, there are a lot of useful pictures and charts including mic placement, wavelengths (and how sound travels) etc. Overall, if you are recording at home and you're just not satisfied with the sound and you don't want to pay big bucks for the pro studio, then this book has REALISTIC options for you. Moreover, if you just want to take your home studio to the next level, that can be done using the ideas from this book as well.
