Bond, nel tentativo di smascherare il piano del perfido magnate dell'oro, si troverà più volte a dover affrontare numerosi pericoli, tra cui anche ripetuti scontri con il tirapiedi di Goldfinger; Oddjob. Grazie all'aiuto dell'amico Felix Leiter e della pentita pilota di Goldfinger, Pussy Galore, Bond riesce a fermare il suo nemico, disinnescando a... 007 (!) secondi dall'eplosione la bomba che avrebbe contaminato radioattivamente la riserva aurea americana. Anche dopo essere stato costretto alla fuga, Goldfinger tenta di vendicarsi di Bond, ma senza successo e verrà risucchiato fuori dopo aver sparato e frantumato un oblò dell'aereo in cui viaggiava con Bond.
