More Gauge Fields and Cartan-Ehresmann Connections: Part A (Interdisciplinary Mathematics Series, No 10): Robert Hermann The subject of this volume is differential geometry and phyiscs. In keeping with the general spirit of this treatise, my aim is to develop mathematical ideas which are closely related to important and realistic physics problems. The material covered here is rather varied. In physics it overlaps with general relativity, quantum mechanics, and elementary particle physics. The unity is in the mathematics. Indeed, I am coming closer to the realization that there is an important, unified mathematical subject, called perhaps the geometry of differential equations and the calculus of variations, which underlies much of the applicability of mathematics to the physical sciences.
