More Die Deutsche Bank -- lange Zeit galt sie als Symbol deutscher Wirtschaftsmacht. Als mächtigste Wirtschaftsinstitution des Landes verkörperte sie die "Deutschland AG", sie war ihr Machtzentrum und ihre Steuerungszentrale zugleich. Nach wie vor ist die Deutsche Bank die größte Bank des Landes und gilt als das einflussreichste Unternehmen in Deutschland. In den gläsernen Zwillingstürmen in Frankfurts City laufen die Fäden der deutschen Wirtschaft zusammen: Hinter der Bank verbirgt sich ein kaum überschaubares Geflecht von mehr als 2.000 Unternehmen und Beteiligungen. Doch der einstige Ruhm ist dahin. Die Klage Leo Kirchs gegen Rolf Breuer im Zusammenhang mit der Kirch-Pleite und die Anklage Josef Ackermanns wegen der hohen Abfindungen für Mannesmann-Manager haben das Unternehmen in die Schlagzeilen gebracht. Berichte über Missmanagement, Pleiten und Wirtschaftsskandale häuften sich. Zudem hat die international ausgerichtete Bank mit einem schwierigen Strukturwandel zu kämpfen. Kurzum: Die Deutsche Bank steckt in der schwierigsten Phase ihrer Geschichte. Für den Wirtschaftsautor Friedhelm Schwarz, der sich einen Namen als Experte für Machtkonzentration in Wirtschaft und Politik gemacht hat, war dies Anlass, sich das Wirtschaftsschwergewicht näher anzusehen. Sein Buch gewährt einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der Großbank. In zehn Kapiteln beleuchtet der Autor das Unternehmen unter unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln, informativ und anschaulich geschrieben. Der Autor erliegt nicht der Gefahr, sich in Details zu verlieren, sondern bewahrt den Blick auf das Ganze: Er analysiert die Bank vor dem Hintergrund des Übergangs zur nachindustriellen Gesellschaft. Sein Fazit: "Die Deutsche Bank ist nicht mehr das, was sie war, und insofern ist sie nach wie vor ein Symbol für ganz Deutschland: Auch die Wirtschaftsnation Deutschland hat sich von den Spitzenplätzen verabschiedet, zumindest auf längere Zeit."
