London Helicopter Centres originally started as an aviation engineering company in 1991. Following our success in becoming the first JAR 145 approved company in 1992, we started flight training in 1994 and were one of the first companies to be approved for JAR training in 2000. We are an approved Flight Training Organisation (FTO) and Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO), offering commercial flight training, flight instructor training as well as type rating conversions on twelve types of helicopter. The CPL(H) Modular Course The CPL(H) can be undertaken either as an Integrated or as a Modular course. The Integrated course combines the theoretical study and examinations with the flight training on an intensive basis; these are carried out by approved organisations, which are listed in Appendix 1. The modular course is more widely available through FTOs such as London Helicopter Centres. The aim of the course is to train PPL(H) holders to the level of proficiency necessary for the issue of a CPL(H) but not the instrument rating or any further specialisation. Course Pre- requisites Prior to commencing the flight training course an applicant shall have completed: ?Total of 155hrs, of which at least 50hrs have to be Pilot in Command (PIC) on Helicopters. ?Undertaken a course of theoretical instruction and passed the required examinations. ?Hold a valid Class 1 medical CPL(H) Modular Ground School The Modular ground school generally consists of a distance-learning period followed by a revision course prior to taking each of the exams (Appendix 1).
