More (Waffen-Arsenal 131) By Hans P Dabrowski Die Focke-Wulf Fw 200 war schon zweimal das Thema innerhalb der "Waffen-Arsenal"-Reihe, im Band 22 (1976) als einer von neun verschiedenen Flugzeugtypen und im Band 52 (1978), in dem die Fw 200 ausschließlich beschrieben wurde. Weil beÂreits ausführliche Abhandlungen realisiert und noch geplant sind, die den Interessenten informieren können und vor allem, um Band 52 nicht in weiten Passagen zu wiederholen, kann diesmal auf eine nähere technische Beschreibung verzichtet werden, statt dessen soll die Geschichte der ersten "Con-dor" den Schwerpunkt bilden. Die Fw 200 ist als reines Verkehrsflugzeug konÂstruiert worden, ohne eine militärische VerwenÂdungsmöglichkeit einzuplanen, wie das z. B. bei der Do 17, He 111 oder Ju 90 der Fall war. Etliche ziÂvile Fernfliige. die fast alle sehr erfolgreich verlieÂfen und das Interesse des Auslandes an diesem Typ sowie die Tatsache, daß sich zum Zeitpunkt des militärischen Bedarfs eine große Anzahl der "Condor" im Bau befand, war ausschlaggebend, die Fw 200 doch als Fernaufklärer, U-Boot-Jäger oder Wetterflugzeug einzusetzen. Sie schloß nicht nur eine Bedarfsliicke. sondern erfüllte (nach entspreÂchenden konstruktiven Änderungen) die gestellten Aufgaben so gut, daß sie auf englischer Seite als "Geißel des Atlantiks" bezeichnet wurde. Im BildÂteil wird noch weiter auf die Militär-"Condor" ein? gegangen.
