This book is not a research book but, rather, a personal account

of the unusual sorts of things that happen during the course of

research and life. For this reason, the authorship of this book doesn’t

reflect the actual research contributions that are described herein,

and this needs to be clarified from the outset.

My contribution to this research was to act as one of two

supervisors for a doctoral research project in the area of Parkinson’s

Disease (PD). The doctoral research program that is described in this

book was undertaken by our research candidate, Shahriar Yousefi,

who deserves the credit for any specific contributions to the field that

were made as a result. Credit is also due to Dr. Mark Schier, who

cosupervised the project and provided the intellectual input in the

areas of sensory neurosciences and psychophysiology. In so far as

the general information pertaining to PD research is concerned, what

is presented herein is only my interpretation of the thousands of

person-years of work in the field, as carried out by other scientists

and published in numerous journals and Internet sites.
