More , Thriving 2002-04 This book not only covers the practical aspects of relocating; it enters unchatered territory, laying emotional and cultural groundwork to help the expatriate thrive. Great for familes, steer clear if you're in business This book contains overall good information and very humorous stories about living abroad. The fact that it was written by two women shows in the items covered. In particular, the chapter on moving pets confused me- it seemed out of proportion with other items. Also, areas like using email, online banking, and other seemingly obvious matters are mentioned as if they are novel ideas. If you're a business person, I'd recommend New American Expat: Thriving and Surviving Overseas in the Post-9/11 World instead. Melissa Brayer Hess and Patricia Linderman truly deliver in The Expert Expatriate. If you are even considering a move overseas, read this to get a good look at the reality of such a life change and the preparation you should undertake. Be sure to read each of the inserts recounting personal experiences of expats all over the world! This book will help prepare you for succesful adaptation to any new environment and takes special consideration of the needs of the family and children. You will be impressed by, and surely grateful for, the relentlessly thorough content. Their advice is clearly based on the authors' extensive personal experience and my cherished copy wears a fringe of neon Post-It arrow markers. My Links To thank me use my links, please!
