Beschreibung: Ein Toter wird auf einer Wiese nahe dem Pichlinger See gefunden. Er ist brutal erschlagen worden. Schnell stellt sich heraus, dass es sich bei dem Opfer um den Angehörigen eines Romastammes handelt, der auf einem Parkplatz beim See sein Lager aufgeschlagen hat. Die Roma begegnen Rita Lohmeyer und ihrer Assistentin, Sabrina Melchior, mit Misstrauen, nicht nur weil sie die Sprache nicht verstehen – der Onkel des Toten, ein Rom namens Horvath, und dessen Tochter Jana sind die Einzigen, die Deutsch sprechen, und fungieren als Dolmetscher -, sondern weil sie keine guten Erfahrungen mit den ortsansässigen Polizeibeamten gemacht haben. Diese haben den nächtlichen Überfällen, die seit der Ankunft der Roma auf ihr Lager verübt werden, tatenlos zugesehen. Aber das ist nicht das einzige Problem, mit dem sich Rita Lohmeyer herumzuschlagen hat. Im Ort schlägt ihr eine Welle von Hass, Intoleranz und Alltagsrassismus entgegen. Obwohl sie bei ihren Ermittlungen auf eine Mauer aus Schweigen und Misstrauen stößt, glaubt sie, den Täter zu kennen. Aber ihr fehlen die Beweise. Deshalb beschließt sie, dem Verdächtigen eine Falle zu stellen. Dabei begeht ihre Assistentin einen fatalen Fehler.
