Die drei Autoren Joachim Schröder, Tilo Gockel und Rüdiger Dillmann wenden sich mit ihrer praktischen Studie an Studenten der Informatik, der Ingenieurswissenschaften, an Berufsanfänger und Praktiker. Am Anfang steht ein kurzer Einstieg, in dem die Grundvoraussetzungen geklärt werden: Architekturen, Plattformen und Historie, die Eigenschaften eingebetteter Systeme, Betriebssysteme sowie die Grundzüge der Software-Entwicklung. Danach stellen die Autoren einzelne Hardware-Plattformen und die Umsetzung vor. Danach Anwendungen: Legacy-Schnittstelle und digitale IOs, der Inter-IC-Bus sowie seine Komponenten, USB-Komponenten, Multithreading bis hin zu Video for Linux und die intelligente Camera. Der Anhang enthält dann noch eine Kurzreferenz, alternative Hardware-Plattformen, die IVT- und die Qt-Bibliothek. Schön fürs Selbststudium überarbeitet mit Einführungen an den Kapitelanfängen, Codebeispielen und Schaltungsentwürfen ist Embedded Linux: Das Praxisbuch wohl selten umfangreiches und tief in die praktische Umsetzung reichendes Fachbuch zum Thema Embedding speziell mit Linux. --textico.de/Wolfgang Treß Not all books ... appear on the homepage.
