An AvaxHome Exclusive! When Behind Closed Doors was released by Vic Colonna & Paul Dowling in 1979 and this was the release which gave Elvis fans their first real meal of outtake sessions. RCA/BMG had released a few tracks as part of the Legendary Performer series but not like they are represented here, with multiple takes, engineer slates and studio talk. Most of the recordings are in mono but the majority of the material hasn't been reissued in better form since this vinyl release 30 years ago. A couple of the tracks are sourced from acetates (notably Almost) but the vast majority was taken from low-generation tape copies from the master tapes. This is an abridged version of the four LP set, including only the studio material from the 1960s; the live material is better represented in other collections. This is a fresh transfer from the first edition vinyl.
