Elias Khnaser: VMware Infrastructure 3: ESX 3.5 & VirtualCenter 2.5 Site Recovery Manager- Training DVD
Posted on 2010-04-15
More Elias Khnaser | English | RS | HF | ULD Server consolidation, efficient and fast disaster recovery, cost savings, high availability and fast virtual server deployments are just some of the things you can accomplish with VMware Infrastructure 3. ESX 3.5 is the most powerful virtualization software on the market today and in this training CBT, Eli Khnaser will guide you through the planning, deployment and administration of your virtual infrastructure. VMware is one of the fastest growing companies today and its virtualization software is the hottest technology in the computer world today, so if you are trying to advance your career and need the next hot thing, ESX Server is that technology that will give you the edge you need to get ahead. For those of you that are seeking certification, you are still required to attend the VMware class as that is a mandatory step in achieving your certification. You can use our CBT to reinforce what you learned. If you are trying to learn VMware Infrastructure 3 because of a job requirement, this CBT gives you practical, hands on training from someone who does it on a day to day basis and has implemented some large ESX deployments. The CBT contains 10 videos as follows: * Module 1: Introduction to Virtualization (free video) * Module 2: Installing and Configuring ESX * Module 3: Configuring and Managing Virtual Networking * Module 4: Configuring and Managing Storage * Module 5: Installing and Configuring VirtualCenter 2.5 * Module 6: Creating and Configuring Virtual Machines * Module 7: VMware Update Manager * Module 8: Designing and Implementing a VirtualCenter Security Strategy * Module 9: Managing Host & Virtual Machine Resources * Module 10: Creating and Managing VI Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity * Module 11: Monitoring & Troubleshooting a Virtual Infrastructure * Module 12: Site Recovery Manager ** The Site Recovery Manager videos will be made available soon Module 1: Introduction to Virtualization In this module we lay down a solid foundation and understanding of Virtualization, why it's so popular and what it offers. We go into the different terminologies and the different vendors that offer the technology. A great introductory module Module 2: Installing and Configuring ESX This module walks you through the installation of ESX 3.5 using media disks such as a CD-ROM, Scripted install using NAS and other network resources. We also talk about post installation tweaks and configurations. This module also includes a manual upgrade from ESX 3.5 to ESX 3.5 Update 1 Module 3: Configuring and Managing Virtual Networking Virtual networking is one of the coolest concepts in virtualization and in this module we take a road trip and tackle all the features and concepts that the VMware Infrastructure offers Module 4: Configuring and Managing Storage If you think Virtualization is on fire, take a closer look at Storage, it is double on fire. Storage in a VMware Infrastructure is one of the most critical components. This module tackles Fibre Channel Storage, iSCSI and NAS. Configuring each technology and leveraging it to the fullest. This module also tackles the very cool concept of Storage VMotion which is a new feature introduced with ESX 3.5 that allows you to move a virtual machine's files from one datastore to another while the machine is online and being accessed by users. Super cool technology!! It's Magic! Module 5: Installing and Configuring VirtualCenter 2.5 VirtualCenter creates the enterprise. With these words I like to summarize and stress the importance of VirtualCenter. It is this application in the VMware Infrastructure suite that allows enterprise features like VMotion, High Availability and Distributed Resource Scheduler to function. It is also the applications that groups and centrally manages all ESX hosts and Virtual Machines in the environment. Module 6: Creating and Configuring Virtual Machines This modules walks you through the creation of Virtual machines, working with Templates and Gold builds. How to quickly provision VMs. How to configure VMs and tweak their resources for optimal performance. Brace yourself for an amazing module filled with information. Module 7: VMware Update Manager Patch management is a critical task or shall I call nightmare that every tech person has to address and find a solution for. VMware understands this and in this release of ESX, it introduces VMware Update Manager, an add-on application that extends VirtualCenter's capabilities and allows for the automated download and installation of patches for both the ESX hosts and the Virtual Machines. We go through the installation and configuration of Update Manager. Module 8: Designing and Implementing a VirtualCenter Security Strategy What good is an environment without proper access control measures in place? In this module we discuss role based access to your VMware Infrastructure environment. How to delegate control and implement security. Module 9: Managing Host & Virtual Machine Resources A virtual environment is all about Resource management. The more resources are available the better your VMs and your hosts will perform. In this module we tackle resource pools, clusters, VMotion, Distributed Resource Clusters or DRS and Distributed Power Management or DPM. The latter being a new feature introduced with ESX 3.5 that aims at conserving power. A fantastic new technology. Module 10: Creating and Managing VI Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity What organization today does not have the topic or Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity on the table in one form or another? This module discusses the different ways to backup and restore your VMs and your Hosts. We also tackle VMware High Availability clusters and how they can aide keep your environment running at all times. Module 11: Monitoring & Troubleshooting a Virtual Infrastructure Building a great environment is not enough. Maintaining a great environment is equally challenging. In this module we take a look at how we can monitor resources in our environment in order to be proactive and detect issues before they occur. If you are running low on resources, you need to address this issue in order to maintain the level of performance you have grown accustomed to, Resource monitoring also helps you justify an expansion and gives you data for scalability. Module 12: Site Recovery Manager How would you like to recover your site to another site in a different geographic area in a snap? Sounds too good to be true? I agree, but it works. Better yet how would you like to have a single VM run on two ESX hosts in 2 different datacenters and capable of sustaining an entire host failure without blinking? Magic left? I give you Site Recovery Manager, one of the most interesting and innovative applications to date that VMware has introduced. If you were excited when you first heard of VMotion, you will love SRM. The Bonus Material on the DVD include: * White Papers, product video demos and more from DataCore, VizionCore, and Veeam * Storage VMotion GUI Plug-in from Andrew Kutz * The DVD Trailer ** VMware, ESX Server, VMotion, Virtual left are registered trademarks of VMware, Inc.
