Meet Tyndale, Coverdale, Henry VIII and other personalities involved in the earliest English Bibles. Read about the forerunners to the famous & 34;Geneva& 34; and & 34;King James& 34; versions. Follow the introduction and development of the English Bible in America, including two examples of the Aitken Bible, known as the & 34;Bible of the American Revolution,& 34; the first English Bible printed in America. Along the way, you'll learn when chapters and verses were introduced, what Latin, Greek and other ancient languages were studied in the making of the English text, who supported and who opposed Bibles in the & 34;vulgar tongue,& 34; and learn the price in suffering and sacrifice that was paid to get the Bible in our own language to us. These are pages from Dr Gene Scott's website, as it was in 2005 when he passed on, that have been converted from html format into pdf format. This was the greatest collection of rare Bible manuscripts in private hands and Dr Scott was very proud of it and wanted the public worldwide to see it. If you were unable to attend the University Cathedral in Los Angeles personally and go on the tour, at least you could see some of the photos and read about it on his website. Unfortunately Melissa Scott doesn't want to share and shut down his website.

Not everything from the website regarding this Bible collection was saved in advance since no one really expected the website to be closed. Therefore, some of the html formatting was lost in the conversion to pdf. For example, the hypertext links do not work and the audio is gone. Nevertheless the text is all there and many of the photographs are quite good.
