More DNA Microarrays (Bios Advanced Methods) The BIOS Advanced Methods series is intended for advanced undergraduates, graduate students and established research scientists. Titles in the series are designed to cover current important areas of research in life sciences, and include both theoretical background and detailed protocols. The aim is to give researchers sufficient theory, supported by references, to take the given protocols and adapt them to their particular experimental systems. DNA miroarrays are relatively new, powerful tool, which allows for the large-scale analysis of DNA samples. A DNA microarray is a miniaturized hybridization format consisting of an ordered array of hundreds to thousands of DNA probes immobilized on glass slides. Applications of DNA microarrays include gene expression studies and detection of small differences between DNA molecules. The book introduces all up-to-date microarray platforms and their various applications. It has been written for scientists who are entering the field of DNA microarrays aswell as those already familiar with the technology, but interested in new applications and methods.
