This compendium is designed to enable and encourage practitioners to incorporate impact and effectiveness measures into their everyday work patterns. It is also designed to encourage more experienced practitioners to revisit the basics of evaluation. The success of HRQOL studies highly depends on the choice of an appropriate instrument. Instruments must be selected according to the domains they measure and the populations and pathologies for which they are designed. Practical issues such as the availability of different translations, copyright issues, and access to instruments are also major factors affecting instrument choice. This compendium has been compiled based on these observations. This goal of this compendium is to provide all those involved in health care evaluation with a comprehensive and unique source of information on the available generic questionnaires.
