More Chirurgie de l'obésité (French Edition) " L’épidémie d’obésité " qui affecte la France et touche malheureusement aussi les enfants, semble déborder nos politiques de santé. Elle ne doit pas pour autant conduire le praticien à baisser les bras, car des solutions existent! Coûteuses pour la collectivité et altérant qualité et durée de vie, les maladies (ou co-morbidités) associées sont au premier plan de la prise en charge : diabète, maladies cardio-vasculaires et hypertension artérielle, troubles respiratoires (apnées du sommeil), pathologies rhumatologiques, anomalies lipidiques… Les conséquences psychologiques (estime de soi) et sociales sont tout aussi importantes à évaluer avant d’introduire les modifications du comportement qui sont le gage du maintien de la perte de poids à long terme. Le traitement médical reste la priorité, alors que dans des circonstances précises (obésité majeure, résistante) se pose la question de la chirurgie de l’obésité, discipline nouvelle et complexe, prometteuse, à certains égards autonome, mais en continuité obligatoire avec l’accompagnement médico-psychologique du sujet obèse.
