I own about 350 jazz records. This one is one of the best among them. You can enjoy Joe Henderson, Roy Haynes and Bassist Gary Peackock as much as you enjoy Master Chick Corea. This is sort of ADVANCED hard bop considering the long daring solos of tenorist Henderson that push towards almost abstraction while mainting lycricism, in addition to a thoughtful "wonderful" long intro by Corea to the performance of the composition "Psalm". Drummer Hays is a FACTORY" on this LIVE performance, but without interrupting the soloists or deviating from his role in the rythm section. One thing that I do enjoy about Corea is the way he accompanies the soloist (in this case its Henderson who is the shaw stealer"; Corea has what some like to call it, an "oblique" way of playing when accompaning the soloist that makes me shift my attention from the soloist to his playing. Finally, bassist Peackock is just great, period.By the way, the 3-stars rating by the other reviewer is just unfair.
