This is meditational music--very peaceful. I guess you could describe it as a lot of "sustained note" type music, with various sounds interwoven. This is not music, as in "songs". It is very good for healing modalities, such as Reiki, acupuncture, meditation, etc. You could also use it to lull you to sleep. You would NOT want to play it in the car while you are driving. If you are into vibratory music, this is it.

A 12-page informational booklet comes with the 2-CD collection, explaining the Awakened Mind System, the concept of measuring brainwaves (Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta) and what is on each CD.

Dr. Jeffrey Thompson's research was into "how sound frequency patterns built into musical sound tracks induce brain entrainment". He also teaches behavioral psychoacoustics and in 1988, established The left for Neuroacoustic Research in San Diego. "His sound tracks use clinically proven techniques for gently guiding brainwave function into deeply relaxed and rejuvenating inner states and awakened mind patterns." Dr. Thompson creates pulse frequencies within the musical sounds, instead of placing the music on top of the sound pulses, so you hear it as instrumental and natural. The 12-page book explains a lot more about the process, but you get the drift.

I can personally tell you that daily meditation, even for just 30 minutes a day, can have profound effects on your life. It can help you to reduce stress, quiet the mind and get answers to questions, and quite possibly to reduce or eliminate some health issues, and more. I highly recommend daily meditation. These CDs can help you train your brain to be able to access the slower brainwave frequencies easier and quicker and to enhance your left-brained creative side. The CDs definitely feel like brain-exercises, like your little brain is doing some slow-moving aerobic activity.
