More Aquatic Chemical Kinetics: Reaction Rates of Processes in Natural Waters by Werner Stumm Examines features of chemical kinetics in aqueous solutions and aquatic systems in order to broaden our understanding of reaction mechanisms and specific reaction rates in natural waters and water technology. Containing essays by chemists, geochemists, oceanographers, aquatic chemists and environmental engineers, it progresses from simple concepts and laboratory studies to applications in natural water, soils and geochemical systems. Topics include kinetics as a discipline, environmental factors in controlling the rate of chemical transformations, the use of linear free energy relationships in bridging the gap between kinetics and equilibria. Chapters also discuss the role of interfaces, especially solid-water interfaces, and special attention is given to the kinetics of surface reactions. Addresses the range of topics that need to be assessed before treating the dynamics of real systems is possible.
