After the a bit weaker predecessor “Overload” the Japanese pulled themselves together to shove another well-peppered Metal chunk down the world’s throat. Mission accomplished I would say!

The speedy opener and album highlight “Onslaught” with its gripping shout chorus is the best proof with this. Traditional song writing as in the 80s, but a bit more modern, which is helped by the fat production. ANTHEM just know how to combine antique and modernisms without missing the targeted fan audience.

The more demanding Melodic Metaller would love the band for sure, if there was not the vocals or rather the language barrier. They still sing in Japanese, only in the choruses they utilise the English language, which sounds pretty cranky here. Another problem is that most of the band’s albums (like this one) only are available as expensive imports. The music, the melodies, the excellent structures wipe away the majority of western Metallians with ease.

It is clear that the guys play for a long time already. Great band, great album and hardly anybody will take notice, a pity.
