More By Luise Abramowski, Alan E. Goodman, "" In vol. 2 an English translation is presented with a double apparatus. The first apparatus contains text-critical matters and differences of the Bible text over against the Syriac vulgate. The biblical references, which amount to some 600, are printed in the margin. The second apparatus contains a wealth of explanatory notes and identifies quotations. The editors prefix a valuable introduction consisting of 18 chapters in which they discuss various themes such as the manuscript, its contents, the intention of the compiler, parts of the compilation in separate tradition, a comparison of the text forms of Cyril's Anatbemata, which are quoted three times (1, vi and K ) , the biblical text, and the excerpts of which the collection is composed. At the end of this volume there are indexes of quotations, biblical and patristic, and of subjects and names. A warm welcome must greet the publication of this corpus of texts, most of which were hitherto unknown or unedited. The collection consists of 12 groups of excerpts, varying in length. Some of them are anonymous. The authors whose names are given are Shahdost of Tarihan (i), Michael Badoqa (m), Henanisho' the monk (vm) and Babai the Great (x). The "chapters" of K and the "theses" of xi are attributed to Nestorius. The group n appears under the authority of the great spiritual writer Isaac of Nineveh.
