本书试从下述三个方面对地下管的力学模型与计算方法进行阐述。首先，作用于地下管上的荷载种类繁多，其管壳内力计算也比较复杂，为择精语详，本书将侧重管道周边土压力分布性态的分析与壳面环向内力的计算这两个重点。因为前一间题是奠定管壳弹性稳定性(柔性管)、强度和刚度(变形)计算的基本荷载的力学模型，同时也是当前土工基础的重要课题之一;后一问题将是生产实用的设计目的。其次，对地下压力钢管，由于用途日益广泛，管径不断增大，而目前可供借鉴的资料和所进行过的科研工作都很有限， 所以笔者将较系统地从理论基础至设计方法作一详细叙述，以图能弥补这个专题作一个尝试。
