《开放的宇宙：赞成非决定论的论证》［The Open Universe：An Argument for Indeterminism」是卡尔.波普尔爵士为《科学发现的逻辑》［The Logic of Scientific Discovery］撰写的人们期待已久的《后记》［Postscript」的第二卷，它包含了该书的论证的中心内容。尽管本书在大约25年前写定，以前却从未出版。然而它包含了对于我所了解的决定论和非决定论问题的最持久、最重要的论述。

《科学发现的逻辑》的《后记》主要写于1951－1956年期间，那时波普尔首次出版的著作《探究的逻辑》［Logik derForschung］（1934年）正被译为英语，书名译为《科学发现的逻辑》。

《后记》的各卷最初是《科学发现的逻辑》的一系列附录，在这些附录中波普尔打算纠正、扩充和发展他的第一部著作中的观念。这些附录实际上有一些在《科学发现的逻辑》于1959年出版时已收入书中。但是有一组附录是独立成篇的，逐渐发展为一部单独的、完整的著作——其篇幅远远超过了最初的《探究的逻辑》。于是人们决定把这部新著作——称作《后记：二十年后》［Postscript：After Twenty Years」——作为《科学发现的逻辑》的续编或者姊妹篇出版。因此在1956－1957年此书被排为长条校样。
