Great Mathematician SS Chern learned from this one!!

This is as you know a classic textbook for introductory college level or advanced/intermediate secondary school algebra. It doesn't contain much material about abstract algeba. The modern textbooks on advanced college/high school algebra are not as good as these series. It's a thousand year old subject, do you think there are any new ideas that can be added to it? Certainly there might be, but it's not going to change the way how the subject is presented. You want to show students that Mathematics is **FUN** not by merely telling them that the subject is fanscinating but actually engage them into the active thinking of it that brings them the joy. The HALL AND KNIGHT textbooks are just like this: concise yet clear enough!

It's useful for those who are apsired to the high school math contests such as the regional and national olympiad but who don't have firm foundation of it. It's comprehensive. If you go through these books by Hall and Knight, you should have enough backgrounds to read the more advanced Math Olympiad like materials though it's not necessary to study these books but just helpful.

One the Greatest, if not the Greatest, geometers of the past Centuary S.S. Chern just learned from Hall and Knight. In one of his interviews, he told that he tried to solve every problem in the book and eventually build up a solid foundation of the subject which proved to be helpful in the later years when he studied advanced math.

Classic are just classic, the content is not at all outdated, but the vocabularies or terms may be. You learn math just for math itself but not just for the words it uses.
