A note from Sting about Edin “The second most famous lutenist in the world” (20th February, 2009): "The celebrated Hopkinson Smith, Edin’s teacher at the Schola Cantorum in Basel (from 1994 to 1999), once told me that, if Edin were an airline, he wouldn’t fly him. I thought this a rather curious statement to make about one of your former pupils and asked him to elucidate. “Because he takes far too many risks,” he cackled. What Mr Smith didn’t feel the need to add was that most of the risks Edin takes just happen to come off."
