More Frank Herbert was born in Tacoma, Washington and worked as a reporter and later editor of a number of West Coast newspapers before becoming a full-time writer. His first sf story was published in 1952 but he achieved fame more than ten years later with the publication in Analog of 'Dune World' and 'The Prophet of Dune' that were amalgamated in the novel Dune in 1965. Bibliography: BRIAN HERBERT Brian Herbert, the son of science fiction legend Frank Herbert, is a prolific and respected writer. His novels include Sidney's Comet, Prisoners of Arionn, Man of two Wolds (written with his father), Sudanna Sudanna, and a trilogy of Dune prequels written with Kevin J. Anderson. A new trilogy of prequels, also written with Kevin J. Anderson, has begun with Dune: The Butlerian Jihad published by Tor Books. Herbert has also edited The Songs of Muad'dib, the Notebooks of Frank Herbert's Dune, and created The Dune Concordance. Brian Herbert lives in Washington State.
